Helping Crisis deliver its services this Christmas

Crisis at Christmas 2020

COVID-19 has completely changed life as we know it and Christmas is looking very different from the norm.

For those experiencing or facing homelessness, Christmas is going to be especially tough, particularly those rough sleeping who are severely vulnerable and three times more likely than the average person to experience a chronic health condition. The homeless community are among those who have been hit the hardest by the virus and it can be very difficult for them to shield or self-isolate.

The national charity Crisis, has been working hard throughout the pandemic to provide advice, warmth and companionship for those in precarious living situations as well as supplying clean and comfortable clothing, personal hygiene items and wellbeing packs.

And Christmas time is no different. Its frontline teams will be offering people facing homelessness access to vital services such as healthcare, food supplies and temporary accommodation at one of the most difficult times of year.

As part of Crisis’ appeal for medical equipment, Daniels Healthcare is donating sharps containers to support the much-needed healthcare provision across Crisis’s centres.

Ian Richards, Head of Crisis at Christmas, said: “I am stunned by the big-heartedness of our supporters and especially at Christmas time. I would like to thank Daniels Healthcare for their donation of sharps containers, which helps us provide homeless people with vital support at Christmas.

“Our guests and the staff and volunteers I have the pleasure of working alongside, tell me that they are grateful that our work at Christmas time is just the beginning of ending someone’s homelessness. During our time with guests we encourage them to become a member of Crisis where they can access support to end their homelessness. It’s personally rewarding that this all begins with the work my team and our supporters make happen.”
