Daniels Sponsors Ashley Flores, Lead Nurse for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS

This post forms part of a series of posts where we share stories about the people, projects or businesses who we support through sponsorships. Our business is about people and if we can make a difference for an individual and support their aspirations within the field of infection prevention, we will do.

Our sales and business development teams meet some great professional people in their daily relationships with our customers, as well as in their training seminars where they teach our clients’ staff on the safe use of our Sharps containers and in the safe disposal of Sharps Wastes. Our Business Development Manager for the South East Region of the UK, Barrie Rolls, was approached by Ashley Flores (pictured left), the Lead Nurse Infection Control and Deputy DIPC for the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust for some funding support from Daniels.

We are passionate about our industry and helping where we can to enhance the professionalism within the field of infection prevention. Ashley was looking for some sponsorship to attend a course called the “Engineering Aspects of Infection Control” which was delivered at Eastwood Park. It was a 5 day course, providing her with 35 CPD points and when feeding back to Barrie after the course she said that “having Daniels part-sponsor my attendance to the course meant a great deal to my professional development and education on the topics of decontamination, theatre ventilation and the CfPP requirements.” She also said that through completing the course, she has updated and extended her knowledge on the engineering aspects of infection control on the following topics:

  • Theatre commissioning
  • Air supply mechanisms and flow measurement
  • Structure and decontamination of flexible endoscopes
  • Practical aspects of steam sterilization

While Ashley’s particular choice of study isn’t really within Daniels’ immediate business field, we recognise the very important work that she does and we value our relationship with both her and her team at the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and we were pleased to be able to support her in her studies.

“Daniels are a very approachable and supportive company. They are also a business I trust and deliver a quality service. A big thank you to you, Barrie, and your team for your sponsorship.” – Ashley Flores
