Team Focus: Pete Williamson, Sales Manager (North)

This is part of a series of posts where we introduce each member of the Daniels Healthcare team, from across the organisation. We have a compliment of approximately 30+ staff members who all live and breathe the ethos of Daniels and you’ll get to meet each one them in this series.

Pete joined Daniels in June 1997 after a full career in the British Navy as a Leading Medical Assistant (sub-branch: Operating Department Assistant) within the Medical Team. Pete adds the biggest value to our business in his clinician background and more often than not is found training our customers’ medical staff on awareness of sharps and importance of safe waste segregation.

As part of his managerial role, Pete is responsible for our three business development managers and two sales support staff who cover Central England, the North East, North West and Scotland.

In his role as Sales Manager, Pete’s remit is to not only retain our existing customer base, but also consolidate how we service those customers as well as grow the business within the NHS Trusts, Trade and Needle Exchange.

Pete will tell you that his favourite part to his job is the training he does with customers and colleagues. With the experience of having been a Registered Nurse  for 11 years (now retired from bank nursing) – he is really able to speak to the medical staff from a place of knowing exactly what their day is like. So – if you ever wanted to know about the myriad of ways in which sharps are used and disposed of – Pete is your man!

Despite his knack of telling (really) bad jokes that you have to laugh at – he is a key member of the management team and keeps his eyes and ears on the team he manages, supporting them in their daily work. Pete has an eye for detail and is always keen to understand something at the heart of it – in order to implement anything. These characteristics ensure that Pete is always there when you need him and ready to lend a hand when he can.

In his spare time Pete still finds time to run 5 kilometres each week, enjoys woodturning, walking and serious wine tasting. He is a strong family man and enjoys relaxing with his three grandchildren – although that is probably a loose description of relaxing!
