Team Focus: Matthew Deavin, Key Account Manager – Central England and Wales

This is part of a series of posts where we introduce each member of the Daniels Healthcare team, from across the organisation. We have a compliment of approximately 90+ staff members who all live and breathe the ethos of Daniels and you’ll get to meet many of them in this series.

Matthew Deavin joined Daniels in December 2016 and is the Key Account Manager for Central England and Wales.

He is the first port of call for customers in these areas and provides support and advice across all products and services.

Matthew has been in sales for more than 20 years in various sectors – from fast food and fast cars, to houses and land. He then moved into the medical device sector where he designed and manufactured a laryngoscope which is an instrument for examining the larynx, or for inserting a tube through it.

He found it a fascinating industry to be in and spent a lot of time working in hospitals: “It was during this time that I first came across sharps containers and Daniels. I found the products and challenges around sharps disposal really interesting”.

Matthew is a huge rugby fan and follows his favourite team, Leicester Tigers, avidly. He doesn’t get to as many games as he’d like but he’s been busy with a recent house move and looking for an amateur dramatics group to get involved in (another of his passions).

The rest of his spare time he spends with his family. He has three children aged 16, four and two and he says no two weekends are the same.

Matthew is particularly looking forward to working with the NHS and providing added value through his training and audit skills: “Myself, and the whole team at Daniels, go above and beyond to ensure our customers have the right products and are up-to-date, and compliant with, all the latest legislation.”

He goes on to say: “The Daniels’ team has very high levels of experience and we have a strong future ahead. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniels as a great place to work. I want to help the company grow and develop, and work with the NHS to be innovative and continue to embrace change to meet their needs.”
