Team Focus: Mark Brothers, Business Development Manager – South West

Mark Brothers - Daniels Healthcare

This is part of a series of posts where we introduce each member of the Daniels Healthcare team, from across the organisation. We have a compliment of approximately 90+ staff members who all live and breathe the ethos of Daniels and you’ll get to meet many of them in this series.

Mark joined Daniels in April 2018 and is the Business Development Manager for Daniels Healthcare in the South West of England.

He provides support and advice on Daniels products and services to customers from Oxford to Portsmouth, from Gloucester to Cornwall and everywhere in between.

His day-to-day responsibilities include looking after key accounts, identifying customer training needs, coordinating audits and developing new relationships.

Mark says: “I’m very hands-on so a lot of my time is spent with clinicians demonstrating our product ranges and how to use them correctly.

“The staff I work with are very busy people so I ensure that we’re all using our time wisely. I try to make sure we have a bit of fun too and use things like icebreakers, quizzes and prizes as well as practical product demos in my training sessions. For example, I’ll show teams how to date the labels, what does and doesn’t go in each bin and how to use the lids effectively. This is received much more positively than a standard PowerPoint presentation would be.”

Mark’s background is in global sales across a variety of sectors such as local government, healthcare and education. He has managed multi-million-pound budgets and one of his key strengths is in developing long-lasting, trusting relationships.

“I enjoy working with the customers in my patch and I’m always on-hand if they have any questions or need my advice – their needs come first. Theatre usually starts at 8am so if I’m doing an audit I have to be there at 7am, which means a 6am start but I’m happy to do it. I spend around 90% of my working day with customers and I’m learning from them all the time too,” he says.

When asked why he joined Daniels Healthcare, Mark said: “Not only does Daniels have a strong presence in the marketplace with a customer-led attitude, the Daniels team is exceptional. They are a flexible and supportive business”.

When he’s not working, Mark is passionate about military history. He runs an American airborne living history group called the 3rd Battalion 506 Living History Group and is passionate about keeping the history of the 101st Airborne’s forgotten battalion during WWII at the forefront of people’s mind. The group visits Normandy every year to meet veterans and their families and it is something that Mark is very proud of being a part of, particularly as he has a military background himself.

In his spare time, Mark enjoys watching his local rugby team, the Exeter Chiefs, and collects vinyl LPs. He has been married for more than 27 years and says his two grandchildren keep him busy!

He hopes that his colleagues and customers would describe him as reliable, proficient and the ‘go-to’ person for advice and support.
