Team Focus: Les Boyce, Business Development Manager – North of England
This is part of a series of posts where we introduce each member of the Daniels Healthcare team, from across the organisation. We have a compliment of approximately 90+ staff members who all live and breathe the ethos of Daniels and you’ll get to meet many of them in this series.
Les Boyce joined Daniels in May 2015 and is the Business Development Manager for Daniels Healthcare in the North of England.
He provides training, audits and other essential support to Daniels customers in this large geographical area which covers Cumbria to Merseyside, Manchester to The Humber and everywhere in between!
On a normal day, you’ll find Les working alongside our customers; whether that’s in an acute, community or mental healthcare setting, where he’ll be helping them to solve any sharps container-related challenges.
He says this is the most enjoyable part of his job: “I get a lot of satisfaction in helping customers; whether that’s giving a presentation to an NHS trust or supporting them through an audit. Our customers know that I’m just on the other end of the phone if they need me”.
Les has more than 18 years’ experience in the medical sales industry and says that his background has helped him to provide an exceptional level of service to Daniels’ customers.
He said: “I recently helped a hospital trust change over to Daniels sharps containers. Everything became standardised which made it much easier for the staff there. I made sure that all the teams were in the loop with the plans and ensured a training programme was in place, which I delivered myself. Getting positive feedback from the teams, and knowing they’re in a better place than they were before the change-over, really makes my job worthwhile.”
Les is Dad to two girls who are 11 and 16. When he’s not spending time with them he enjoys a whole host of hobbies and activities: “I love music and go to gigs whenever I can. My first concert was Kate Bush but my music tastes range hugely from the likes of Marvin Gaye to Whitesnake. My most recent concert was Duran Duran which was brilliant”.
He also enjoys keeping fit at the gym and playing football, having reached the higher leagues in his youth, and likes to read detective novels when he has some downtime.
His friends and family would describe him as patient, approachable and chatty; although he says he’s quiet, his family say he can talk for Britain!
