Team Focus: Gabby Denn, Key Account Manager – North East & North West

This is part of a series of posts where we introduce each member of the Daniels Healthcare team, from across the organisation. We have a compliment of approximately 90+ staff members who all live and breathe the ethos of Daniels and you’ll get to meet many of them in this series.

Gabby Denn joined Daniels in October 2014 and is the Key Account Manager for Daniels Healthcare in the North West and North East of England.

She provides support and advice on Daniels products and services to customers in this area which covers anywhere from Lancaster across to Hull, and from Manchester up to Sunderland.

Her day-to-day responsibilities include looking after key accounts and ensuring our customers are happy with Daniels products and services. She also conducts annual sharps compliance audits and helps customers put sharps handling practices in place to meet all the latest sharps-related regulations.

Gabby says she loves the variety of her role: “Every day is different – yesterday morning I was speaking to a Deputy Head of Procurement at a Trust, then in the afternoon I was advising a nurse on the correct brackets for her department’s requirements. Tomorrow, I’m undertaking an audit with an eye clinic then catching up with some customers”.

With more than 15 years’ account management and sales experience, and a background in working with the NHS supply chain, Gabby says it was a natural progression to move into this job with Daniels: “I enjoy working for Daniels as I feel I can be myself – I don’t feel constrained or feel pressure to ‘fit the mould’. They allow me to be me, and this has helped me to build the very strong relationships I have with my customers. I’m often the first port of call when they need help and seen as an extension of their teams”.

Gabby lives with her partner, and says her friends and family would be describe her as “the life and soul of the party”. Her spare time is either spent at the gym (she’s there 6 days a week) or in the kitchen cooking.

One of her proudest achievements was recently learning to ride a bike (she never learnt as a child) and she says her lifetime ambition is to work with deaf and hard-of-hearing children: “I was born deaf, and couldn’t hear until I was two-years-old. I think it’s really important that all children are taught sign language from an early age to help integrate hearing-impaired children into mainstream school”.
